About 10 years ago we were in Denmark leading a course on Visionary Coaching. On day two a young woman stood up and said that she was quitting her Psychology course and going on an adventure to travel the world. She didn't know where she would go, how she would get there or how she could pay for that, but off she went and did it anyways. Watching her move from country to country, getting invited to live on a private island, being an assistant to a travelling band and finally ending up as a photographer in Ireland, well I was gobsmacked at her bravery and inspired by her magical approach to life. In my sphere of friends, this was the first of the magical wanderers setting in place a new template of possibility for us all. This is a picture of her here, taken by Mrs. Readhead Photography, that I believe personifies the awesomeness of the noble nomad's journey into a life beyond imagining!
Five years ago, another friend in the US quit her teaching job for a life of freedom. I've watched with awe as she's roamed Costa Rica, Panama and other countries with camera in hand, inspiring us all to live a freestyle life.
Then there's my buddie from Australia who headed to the US without a dime to her name and a vision to create a breakthrough in the world of education. She made fabulous friends, had incredible experiences and today is doing her Phd in Education and teaching at a university in Australia, influencing people all over the world in the possiblities of new learning.
I've also been inspired by another friend who lived in a yurt in a field in Wales for a year and today is the founder of The Silver Tent, a group for wild, wise, wonderful women over 50 who are making the world an ever more wondrous place.
These are just a few examples of the noble nomdas, genius gypsies, wondrous wanderers and awesome adventurers who inspired what today has become a new trend ... digital nomads, of which I am one. Living free, following the magical flow of your greater calling ... well it's more awesome than I ever imagined it could be. I am so thankful that these beautiful women led the way for us all, along with many others all over the world, to find such incredibly fulfilling and geniusly experiential lives, making the difference we've come to make.
